Basel isn't only well-known for its first-class museums and art galleries. For example, Basel has a very nice zoo, a musical theatre and even its own football team called FC Basel or for short FCB and they are the leaders of the Swiss football league. Their stadium, the St Jakob Park, created by the famous architects Herzog & de Meuron, is their home where they often play local matches. A must if you are a football fan.
The city is actually split in two parts by the Rhine River and makes this very attractive for good swimmers in summertime. Rhine swimming has become a popular summer activity in warm Basel. Did you know that Basel is one of the hottest Swiss cities in summer ? Organised boat tours on the Rhine let you also discover the city and its borders from another point of view.
For the evening you won't be disappointed either: Basel has a theatre of great renown and will offer you very good plays for an enjoyable evening or you could go to the Stadt Casino Basel and let yourself be enterained by the Basel Symphony Orchestra or the Basel Chamber Orchestra. |
