  Trip to Mount Titlis

Discover central Switzerland's highest Mountain
Mount Titlis with its prominent 3,238 metres, located in the canton of Obwalden and overlooking Engelberg, is famous for having the world's first revolving cable car completed in 1992. Due to its location, Engelberg became cetral Switzerland's best-known ski resort and it is easily reached from Lucerne being only one hour by train. This village of 3,500 inhabitants was in the past famous for its Benedictine monastery and sits in a quiet and idyllic valley. All these attributes make it a really nice day trip from Lucerne.

Your ascension to Mount Titlis starting at Engelberg is a 4 step journey: first you will ascend to Gerschnialp located at 1,300 metres, then you will change cable car at the second stop called Trübsee (1800 metres) to a bigger gondola. This one will take you up to Stand at 2,450 metres, where you will finally board the Rotair, the rotating gondola. On your trip with the Rotair savour the amazing view over the Titlis Glacier.

Once at the top of Mount Titlis you have many possibilities and attractions. With 45 minutes hiking you can reach the summit of the mountain which is exactly 3,238 meters. In Kleintitlis there is an ice cave, which is worth a visit. Otherwise simply enjoy skiing or snowboarding on these snow white pistes. With the Ice Flyer chair lift you can go down to the glacier park. There you can take a slide on a 150 m long piste with a rubber tyre and for snowboarders there is a freestyle park nearby with a half-pipe.
