| Small but plentiful |
Switzerland may be a small country compared to its European neighbours but has, for sure, more delightful places to visit than any other country with the extra advantage that you don't need hours of travelling. So in fact the country as a whole can be considered as a sight.
The choice is yours - Switzerland has a lot to offer starting with its high mountains like the Matterhorn (4633 metres) and Jungfrau or its various lakes like the Lake Léman (often reffered to as Geneva), Lake Lucerne or Lake Constance. In addition Switzerland has one big national park called the Swiss National Park located in Zernez, eastern Switzerland and many different wild animals ranging from the marmot to the red deer, without forgetting the various species of birds that can be found there.
Bern, the capital of Switzerland and home of Einstein, is typically known for its bear pit and medieval city centre. In contrast, Geneva is mostly visited for its famous Jet d'Eau, a huge fountain in the Lake of Geneva, propelling water up to 140 metres into the air. It is the world's tallest fountain. If you are looking for something less humid for winter time you can join the International Hot Air Balloon week held in Château d'Oex every January. |
