Clock Tower (Zytglogge)
The Zytglogge, called Zeitglockenturm in high german, was built around the 13th century and served the city as clock tower, guard tower and even as a prison. This medieval monument was once part of the city's western gate. Now it is part of the old town in Bern and has been declared as a UNESCO World Culture Heritage site. It is said that in the past people gathered in front of the clock to watch it and hear it chime, then wondered why. It also helped Albert Einstein with his theory of relativity.

Location: Old town, Bern

Bear Pit
When you hear the name Bern you can think of a bear and it's not a coincidence that the city's armature has a bear on it. The legend says that the founder of Bern, Berchtold V from Zähringen, victoriously killed a bear for his first time in Bern and that's how the name Bern was born. Since then and at the very same location, a pit was built in 1857, to host brown bears, which became a nice attraction. This pit will soon be replaced by a very nice bear park providing a more natural environment for the bears.

Location: Grosser Muristalden 6, 3006 Bern

Münster Cathedral
Switzerland's highest church with its 100 meters, took more than 400 years to be built. It started in 1421 and after many generations of builders it was finally finished in 1893. The gothic style of the cathedral is really impressive and its view at the top even more. Before enjoying the wonderful view over the whole city and the white snowy Bernese Alps you will first have to climb 344 narrow winding steps, but for its unique view it is really worth the climbing. Don't forget to see Münster's main portal, which depicts the Last Judgment.

Location: Münsterplatz 1, 3000 Bern
